This is why we'll NEVER leave the Solar System

Yeah - I am not a super genius with some aspects of engineering... But yeah..... I have figured out that making a TIME DRIVE is the way to go.... Like you know how popping a parachute in the atmosphere can slow you down..... and how a jet engine can speed you up, the idea is to view time as a fluid medium that we are flowing with - like a giant river...... you can go back up stream or stop or continue down stream..... BUT it's being able to treat time AS the working fluid..... just like you would treat air in the atmosphere..... My idea is really good, just no one - not even me, knows how to do it.... But if you can JUMP time spans, instead of distances.... A few hours to warm up the drive and then go - and then pull the time parachute to drag to a stop.... means that you have just jumped 500 light years by time, instead of distance....

It's one of those annoying propositions, that really sticks in the mind, because it SEEMS almost plausible.... But like reversing a car 200 meters back up the road, reversing 200 hours back in time --- Yeah well....

I have also worked out NOT how to do time travel, but some really significant problems that one would be facing if one could do it - it's not the time travel it's self, it's the rotation of the planet, the orbital speed of the planet, the solar systems position, and the position of the galactic arm, and the position of the galaxy it's self, as it ALL travels through space, ALONG with the many small variables, such as the effects of gravity from the moon and other planets, that because one is travelling through time and space, that all these variables, the LONGER the time travel spans are, the greater the variables in the areas of relocation to the same place on the face of the earth - the accuracy drifts..... so 10 seconds into the future is RADICALLY different to 1 million years into the past or future.... ALONG with the geographical issues around "that location" in a different time... And then to make accurate calculations with all the variables locked in... So you don't reappear in the center of the planet or 10 million times the distance of Pluto - out in space... These are the issues NOT shown in HG Wells - The Time Machine......

It's like a worn bicycle or motorbike chain - with each bit of wear on the link, and pins, with enough wear, and enough links, the really WORN chain over some 75 links, means the NEW chain in say 1 meter when hung, but the worn chain is 1 meter and 2 cm long..... all the little errors in time travel add up.... so the aim point is 50 meters above the ground 50 years into the future, above your current location..... so with the little errors when launching, or without a way to correct during the "travel" - you could end up 500 Km into the planet or 500 Km out into space... 50 years into the future or the past.... THIS is a very real problem..... AND then you have "how to time travel" as an operation within it's self.

Now all the wear, if we go from 75 links to 750 million links - the wear and the differences between the lengths of a NEW chain and a very worn chain - become considerable..... So the smaller jumps of 5 or 10 minutes, convery considerably LESS risk, that a million years or 100 million years...

Plotting all the velocities and straight effects and overt and subtle effects - like sailing across the ocean..... there is a side wind of 5 Kmh..... and a swirling ocean current - a gyre 1000 Km across - doing 5 Kmh..... so in sailing east to west, like traving on the planet through the galaxy, every Km you sail directly west, you drift 50 meters south from the cross wind, but the gyre, causes you to slowly rotate 1/2 a degree anti clockwide so your slightly heading south - until you get half way across it.... anyway.... without getting overly complex...... disappearing from NOW - in your basement - and reappearing 100 years into the past or future - is an incredibly complex set of calculations.....

"It's ALL so HUGE" - Distances, amounts, time scales, it's just beyond comprehension....
