Thousands of macaques enjoy Thailand’s Monkey Buffet Festival

Normally they tell you not to feed the animals, but this Thai city has made an annual tradition of it. The Monkey Buffet Festival was held in Lopburi. Fruits, vegetables, sweets and other niceties were beautifully laid out on plates so the monkeys could make monkeys of themselves, gorge themselves silly, and generally get up in people’s business.

Generally, the macaques can be found wandering the streets of Lopburi, begging for food, stealing purses and biting through utility cables. Apparently, this is normal.
