Matal Spinning - A Noble Art Indeed.

I am really impressed at the quality of these guys work -- AND -- How they put that absolutely LOVELY rolled edge around the dishes......

Fuck it's nice looking work.

There is a whole heap of science that can go into this, mostly to do with work hardening of the metals, tool shapes and profiles etc.. and a great deal of suck it and see cleverness.

I read up some books on it, went and made up some air filter covers for a Harley from Alumium, and discovered much, one of the most significant being you NEED enormous amounts of power to do metal spinning with.

No little motors... BIG motors - with shit loads of torque.

These pans are made from a fairly soft low carbon steel that lends it's self well to metal spinning without apparently much work hardening, if any - makes for repeated impact resistant drums, that don't crack and would rather stretch than tear.... |

But the diameter..... That is a BIG 3 phase AC motor driving it - probably 415V....
