Ukrainian troops receive weapons training in England
Over 450 Ukrainian troops have been receiving weapons training with the British Army in England.
The Ukrainian soldiers were instructed on how to use various arms supplied by Britain to Ukraine, including multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) and the L119 light gun, a British-designed howitzer modified to fire American ammunition. The L119 training featured live-fire exercises on Salisbury Plain, with training delivered by a mixture of British and New Zealander soldiers. As the L119 has been out of service for several years, the UK government has purchased used units, which will be given to Ukraine, along with several MLRS, drones, and electronic warfare equipment.
In addition to the weapons training, the British Army has said that they have the capacity to give infantry training to Ukrainian soldiers every 120 days, if needed. The UK has so far provided £3.8bn ($4.6bn) in military and economic support since the start of the conflict with Russia.
