The spaceflight tourism company Virgin Galactic has launched its 'Unity 25' mission from Spaceport America in New Mexico. The flight comes ahead of the firm's planned rollout of commercial flights next month.

The VMS EVE aircraft carried the VSS Unity spacecraft to around 40,000 feet before the rocket-powered ship was released, it then climbed more than 80 kilometers above sea level.

It's a pity that the whole thing was not a bit more ambitious - and rather than a short arc up into the edge of space and then coming back down, that it wasn't for a legit 2 or 3 earth orbits and then back down.

I mean fuck drugs.... as in totally - but this is severe tripping - it's so totally far out - as in your getting REALLY HIGH in altitude and the pure incredibleness of the event - that peaking for like what? A mere 5 minutes just doesn't do it justice.... It's a once in a life time experience - AND I'd want to have a really good look at EVERYTHING..... 3 orbits.... Hmmmm make that 10 orbits - with a cut lunch and a toilet and a BIG pot of good black tea..... I mean there are stars and planets and all the geographical features of the earth... and the moon etc..

Having a look at all the deserts, the great wall of china, all the bays, rivers and esturies and storms and just tons of shit.... the cities and the forests and all this stuff....

Yeah one day in orbit - one whole day in orbit.
That would be enough to last a man a life time.
