after watching this i just realized how incredibly difficult it is for a planet to form and how long it would take to form, just knowing how the asteroids hitting other asteroids for millions of years eventually form a planet but not only this, it's also the fact that the planet follows the orbital path and maintains within the Goldilocks zone.
for life to exist, and knowing how many other issues could arise from other asteroids within the galaxy. it's amazing to know that earth really is lucky it formed especially with all the unpredictable asteroids flying all around and getting almost untouched by another life ending catastrophic asteroid like the one that took out the dinosaurs.
i know we have systems that can predict the future of where objects in space will be based off the orbit of our solar system. but there's always something we can't see because our tools are limited, which means there is always a chance we could be wiped out by an asteroid similar to the one that took out the dinosaurs. that chance might be low but also unpredictable based off of distance.
watching this after recently watching one of my favorite tv shows. stargate universe. i love the idea of space and what we could discover and improve on when we explore within our limits.
i loved that the space ship destiny had the capability to use the stars as gas stations, in the show they called it solar power. but i looked at it as more powered by the heat of the sun but it could be argued it's both because it comes from the sun.
