Thank you god for not letting me born in a place where I would even need to consider facing, much less making that choice.

It's not like... I don't know, people should be responsible and not have kids if they can't take care of them (foodstamps, WIC, etc).
In desert countries where the wrong hole gets you beheaded or thrown off a building; it is a different place with different rules and a very different frame of morality.

Considerations of Good and Evil come a long way after surviving. I'm not saying it's easy, or remotely sane... watching your child slowly starving to death in your arms even as you feel hunger clawing your guts out and knowing it's worse for your child... or 'selling' your child into marriage, where at least there's a chance they will be fed, protected and kept warm/dry/cool in the desert.
Not an easy choice, but survivial comes a long way before moral judgement... regret though can and does last a lifetime.

Yup man we know at least what freedom tastes like.. These people are conditionned to be slaves.. They only worry about their masters are going to give.. To be fair, life was good under American occupation and food was flowing in... I'm surprised the giants did not come to harvest some meat..., but the Taliban retook power and aid stopped.
