So I want to share my thoughts about a video I watched from Paul Elam called Why Men are Happier than Women. I put a link to it in the description. In it he speculates as to the reasons why women have grown increasingly miserable over the last fifty years. While at the same time women's material quality of life has improved substantially. Their relative well being when compared to men is down and men's well being is up. Ironically men are happier even while our net earnings power has gone down and feminism is eroding our rights away. We fear saying the wrong thing at work or we might find ourselves unemployed. It's a paradox. The more free and empowered women are the less happy they are. The less free men are the more happy we are. It looks as through women having control over their financial lives does not make women as happy as when they were stay at home moms. According to Paul Elam As of 2012: 60% of all personal wealth and 51% of stocks are held by women. I'm sure that's also probably gone up since then and the reason for that is most likely that women are living longer than men and when their husbands pass away they get all the wealth. The sad truth is that the wife is a Naggasauraus puts a man into an early grave. Except in this case he goes extinct instead of her. Elam also provide research to back his points in the description of his video. So in a world where men are financially poorer they are happier. How is that even possible. I'll tell you how. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out part of the answer. All it takes is the rapper The Notorious B.I.G. He had this right back in the 1990s when he said Mo money mo problems. The truth is that money doesn't make you happy after a certain point. There have been studies done showing that once a person covers the basics of life like food and shelter that happiness doesn't go up in a linear fashion the more one consumes. There are diminishing returns to wealth. Money doesn't make you all that much happier after a certain point. Houses are getting bigger and bigger and so are the women yet their happiness is getting smaller. Paul Elam says that the obvious explanations include the social upheavals of the 1960s and 1970s. That after feminism happiness degraded ever since. That women fell for this infernally stupid idea that work is power. But I don't believe that to be a sufficient answer and not all that realistic because men are still working today but their happiness is going up.
