Apart from general unwillingness, most misunderstanding arises from a natural inability to think outside one's own experience but this can be mitigated with sufficient desire to comprehend that the world is, although only seen from your vantage point, not merely a reflection of your own experience.

Shame to see Stardusk in his current state. He's dumbed down his content by at least a standard deviation to keep up with the modern manosphere and zoomers. "Why We Don't Get Along" was one of his best videos. This is a far cry from that.
I think this phenomenon is rooted in the fact that the variation we see in 2022 is a very new phenomenon. Even just a century ago, anyone not naturally immune to that year's deadliest flu was out of the gene pool - dead. It didn't matter if you were old or young, man or woman, healthy or unhealthy. If your genes couldn't muster, your life simply gave out. Now, however, it's nearly impossible to die. Sickly? Modern medicine. Maladaptive? Wokism. Spiteful mutant? Progressivism. Dumb and lazy? Government. We're used to people being like us because many people who weren't literally died off, culled by things like natural selection, disease, and group selection.
In addition to that, the concept of talking to someone on the other side of the world with even more ease than your next door neighbor is also incredibly new. We're used to small and local groups where most people probably will be about the same as each other.
Tutoring in high school brought Me to this revelation. It's also why a good analogy can work wonders.
