Sadly, Linux comes with its own set of problems to overcome. If all your doing is web browsing, it generally works fine. (Though I find that hardware acceleration is often broken, smooth-scroll is not as smooth as Windows, etc.) The current transition between X11 and Wayland display servers has really thrown a wrench into the workings of Linux, especially if you're running an NVIDIA video card. Ultimately, Windows is battle-tested business software for the desktop, run by a megacorp, but it works. Whereas many Linux distros are helmed by ideologically motivated idealists and literal trannies that seem intent on driving many projects into the ground because everyone is too pussified to call out their BS. As soon as Linus Torvalds goes away, Linux will be just another corporate-sponsored woke project like Mozilla. The future is grim for software in general, so pick your poison. I personally use the tool that works for the job. Using Linux to save a machine from being e-waste is certainly better than throwing it away.
