Worlds Apart | Elect and reprobate? - Victor Taki
The Americans have many self-gratifying metaphors for why they are supposed to be at the top of the international pecking order: the world’s leading democracy, a shining city on a hill, and benevolent hegemon. All of those are supposed to support the idea that, in the final analysis, the US has an inborn prerogative to know what’s best for the rest. As order- and peace-affirming as such positioning wishes to appear, isn’t it bound to cause conflict? To discuss this, Oksana is joined by Victor Taki, sessional lecturer at Concordia University of Edmonton.
