Demonstration that shows the diffusion of hydrogen from welds made using different types of electrodes. Also shows the beneficial effect of preheating and slow cooling and the importance of proper care of low-hydrogen electrodes. Production was jointly funded by DNV Columbus and Spectra Energy. Animation was provided by BMT Fleet Technology.

Iron and other metals can dissolve enormous emounts of hydrogen - and yeah despite ALL the crap about "The Hydrogen Economy" - hydrogen leaks INTO all metals and it leaks THROUGH them and OUT of them.... Hydrogen is a tiny atom and it is a mon-atomic element - meaning ONE atom gets around by it's self, so it CAN go through solid steel....
