The French Connection is a 1971 American neo-noir action thriller film directed by William Friedkin and starring Gene Hackman, Roy Scheider, and Fernando Rey. The screenplay, by Ernest Tidyman, is based on Robin Moore's 1969 nonfiction book about narcotics detectives Eddie Egan and Sonny Grosso. It tells the story of their fictional counterparts, New York Police Department detectives Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle and Buddy "Cloudy" Russo, in pursuit of wealthy French heroin smuggler Alain Charnier (played by Rey).

Epic movie with ballz.
Thanks, Billy von B. This is my favorite movie of his, and he made many of them. I was 16 in '71
Same stunt driver that drives the Le Mans, drove the Charger that chased Steve McQueen in Bullet, and I believe the Challenger in Vanishing Point.
Thank you SO MUCH for uploading this classic Gen Hackman movie - dead at 95 - may his soul rest in peace with the knowledge that his acting skills instilled awesome memories in the child that I was when I watched this movie in theatre with my dad.
